The UFO is the abbreviation of Unidentified Flying Object, and the unusual apparent anomaly in the sky that can not be identified easily, to the observer as any known object. While technically a UFO refers to any unidentified flying object, in modern popular culture the term UFO has generally become synonymous with alien spacecrafts, however, the term ETV (ExtraTerrestrial Vehicle) is sometimes used to separate this explanation of UFOs from totally earthbound explanations. Studies have established that the majority of UFO observations are misidentified conventional objects or natural phenomena such as the noctilucent clouds, nacreous clouds, Lenticular Clouds aircraft, balloons, or the meteors or bright planets as an astronomical objects with a small percentage even being a hoax. The first reports of sightings typically referred to mystery airships. When reported, they were described during the 19th century latter part and the early 20th. In 1947 the infamous incident of Roswell UFO which made the public interest fueled.
Roswell Incident, 1947 UFO Sightings
The Roswell UFO Incident was a report of an object that crashed near Roswell, New Mexicothe general vicinity of in June 1947, allegedly an extra-terrestrial spacecraft and its alien occupants, the body of an alien recovered from the crash of a “flying disk”. The incident has been the subject of intense controversy since 1970s and of conspiracy theories as to the true nature of the object that crashed.
The Mantell UFO Incident, January 7, 1948
Mantell UFO incident was one of UFO reports most publicized, and resulted in the crash and death of 25-year-old Kentucky Air National Guard pilot, Captain Thomas F. Mantell on the fateful day of January 7, 1948, while in pursuit of a supposed UFO. Lt. Albert Clemmons and Lt. Hammond was the other two pilots with Captain Mantell in steep pursuit of unidentified flying object, but the two surviving pilots reported, that the “flying object” is so indistinctly small and hard to identify. However, Mantell ignored the two pilot’s suggestions to level their altitude and clearly see the ‘object’. Lt Clemmons was the only pilot to have an oxygen mask, while Mantell’ oxygen was low in supply, so Clemmons and Hammond called off their pursuit 22,500feet, but Mantell continued to climb the high altitude and if he passed the 25,000 feet, Mantell supposedly blacked out from hypoxia or lack of oxygen. Then his plane began to spiral down and crashed at a south farm of Franklin, Kentucky (state line of Tennessee and Kentucky).
Disappearance of Felix Moncla, after encounter with the UFO
First Lieutenant Felix Eugene Moncla, Jr. born October 21, 1926, and presumed dead on November 23, 1953,was a United States Air Force Pilot, and was on a temporary assignment, who mysteriously disappeared while pursuing an UFO, over Lake Superior in 1953. Sometimes known as The Kinross Incident, named after the Kinross Air Force Base. Moncla disappeared when he pursuit the unidentified object and was misidentified Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft, and according to U.S.Air Force reported that the pilot crashed. The RCAF, refused their involvement in the intercept in the public asking for details about the disappearance or crash incident.
The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Abduction, 1961
The Hills couple lived in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. At that time, in the US, it was very unusual to see “interracial couple”, Barney was black, while Betty was white. Barney was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service and an active member of the Unitarian (a Christian Theological movement, named for its understanding of God as one person) , while Betty was a social worker. Barney died on February 25, 1969 due to cerebral hemorrhage at age 46. On October 17, 2004, Betty Hill died at age 85 because of cancer. This was the first reported case of UFO abduction in 1961, and the US Air Force fighter pilot was sent to investigate the UFO sighting incident in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and one of the pilot was killed while on pursuit with the flying object.
Kecksburg Incident, 1965
The Kecksburg UFO incident occurred on December 9, 1965 , residents claimed seeing a bell-shaped object crashed in the area at Kecksburg, Pennsylvania. According to reports, a large, brilliant fireball was seen by thousands in Ontario, Canada and six states. It lined over the Windsor, Ontario to Detroit ,Michigan area, reportedly dropped hot metal debris over Michigan and northern Ohio, causing some grass fires and sonic booms in Western Pennsylvania, the press assumed as a falling meteors, as the authorities discounted explanations such as errant missile test, reentering satellite debris or plane crash.
The Travis Walton UFO Abduction Incident, 1975
Travis Walton was born February 10, 1953, is an American logger, claiming he was abducted by UFO aliens, on November 5, 1975. Walton was 22 at that time, and working as logging crew in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Arizona and was serving for 9 years contract with the United States Forest Service for different position and duties. Rogers and Walton was best friends, and his brother in-law too, since Walton married Mike Rogers’ sister. Walton and his co-workers, saw the metal-disc object, and Walton tried to approach the “mysterious disc” in spite of his companion’s trying to hold him. They left Walton when they got scared of the ‘ flying object’, but Rogers came back for Walton, but the latter was nowhere to be found. Walton could not be found, but reappeared after five days of intensive searches. The medical examination result showed that Walton was in good health, but noted two unusual features, such as red spot wrinkling at the right elbow of Walton that was hard for hypodermic needle’s injection, but noted that the red spot is far from the vein. Walton’s urine resulted lack of ketones, which is unusual for Walton’s case, claiming he was ‘gone’ for five days without or less foods, which he lost weight, and his body should have break down fats in order to survive, and this case should led to very high levels of ketone in his urine. And there was an argument with the inconsistency of evidence based on Walton’s story, whether it was true or hoax.
The Phoenix Lights, March 13, 1997
The Phoenix Lights also known as the “Lights over Phoenix” were a series of widely sighted unidentified flying objects observed in the skies on MArch 13, 1997, over Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona, Nevada and the Sonora Mexican States. And the reappearance on February 6, 2007 and again on April 21, 2008. But according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and military officials, claimed that these were flares dropped by F-16 aircraft training at Luke Air Force Base. Many of these pranks and hoax story, teach us to be a neutral observer and helpful to look at the facts or evidence of any extra terrestrial activities or any “mysterious and unidentified flying objects” you will see. The Phoenix Lights or Lights over Phoenix, was described as a V-shaped flying object with orange lights.
Identification of UFOs
The Fata Morgana is a type of mirage in which objects located below the horizon of the astronomical appear to be hovering in the sky, and sometimes blamed for some UFO sightings. Fata Morgana can magnify the distant appearance of the objects or distort them and could not be recognized.

McMinnville UFO Photographs
In the late 1950′s, McMinnville UFO photographs were taken on a farm near McMinnville, which occurred at 7:30 pm on May 11, 1950, when Evelyn Trent was walking back to her farmhouse after feeding rabbits on her farm. Mrs. Trent and her husband Paul lived on a farm approximately nine miles from McMinnville. Before reaching the house she saw this spotted a ” metal-like shaped disc and slow moving object, heading in her direction from the northeast.”She called her husband in a frantic voice, who was inside the house, and he came out and also saw the object. After a short time he went back inside the house to get his camera and managed to take two pictures of the object before it sped away to the west; Paul Trent’s father also briefly viewed the object before it flew away. Two farmers took pictures of assumed to be a “flying saucer.” These are among the best known UFO pictures, and continued to be debated and analyzing by the scientists.
Lubbock Lights
The strange and unusual formation of lights, called the Lubbock Lights, seen over the city of Lubbock, Texas where these lights was named after, from August to September 1951. The Lubbock Lights incident regarded as one of the UFO’s great cases in the United States and received national publicity. The first publicized sighting was at around 9 PM, on August 25, 1951, and the Lubbock Lights was sighted.
1952 Washington D.C. UFO Incident
The series of unidentified flying objects called the 1952 Washington D.C. UFO incident, also known as the Washington flap or the Washington National Airport Sightings, reports from July 12 to July 29, 1952, over Washington D.C. and the most publicized sightings took place on consecutive weekends, July 19–20 and July 26–27. Edward Nugent, the Wahington National Airport air-traffic controller sighted spotted seven objects on his radar, at 11:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 1952. The objects were located 15 miles south-southwest of the city, which in that area, there are no known aircraft and this flying objects were not following any established flight paths. Harry Barnes, a senior air-traffic controller and Nugent’s superior, observed and watched the strange flying objects on Nugent’s radarscope.
Flatwoods Monsters
This alleged unidentified cryptid or extraterrestrial have been sighted in Flatwoods town in Braxton County, West Virginia (thus this monster was named after), Flatwoods Monster, also known as the Braxton Monster or the Phantom of Flatwoods, on September 12, 1952. Stories of the creature are an example of a supposedly close encounter of the third kind.
On September 15, 1952, at 7:15 PM, two brothers, Edward (13), and Fred May (12), and their friend Tommy Hyer (10) respectively, witnessed a bright object cross the sky, and this “strange flying object” landed on the farmland owned by G.Bailey Fisher, a local farmer. Thus, this boys were exposed to these object, and started vomiting and do not feel well. The doctor who treated them, described the symptoms of victims exposed to mustard gas, although this common symptoms are more visible with patients who suffers hysteria caused by severe shock, or traumatic experience.
Ghosts Rockets
Ghost rockets also known as Scandinavian ghost rockets, were unidentified flying objects or UFO formed as missile or rocket shaped, which was sighted in 1946 in Sweden and nearby countries. On February 26, 1946, it was first sighted and reported by Finnish observers. According to reported events, there are more or less 2,000 sightings listed between May and December of 1946 and August 11,1946 at its peak. The radar verified two hundred sightings and the authorities found some physical fragments or debris related to the particular ghost rockets. Several sightings of unidentified flying objects are reported over Scandinavia and the Swedish Defense Staff expressed concern regarding these strange and weird sightings.
Maury Island Incident
The Maury Island Incident, was said to be an early UFO encounter which occurred allegedly on June 1947, three days before the famous Kenneth Arnold’s sightings as the original encounter with the flying saucers and encounter with the Men in Black. Opinions and debate remained if this story is a hoax or just a “cover up” the classified aerospace project’s leakage. Harold A. Dahl, reported that his son was injured and his dog was killed during an encounter with the UFOs, and Dahl also claimed that his witness was threatened by the Men in Black, and scared to talk about the encounter.
Levelland UFO Incident
Several people, testified and describe seeing a glowing, egg-shaped object and a cigar-shaped object which caused their vehicle’s engines to shut down, on November 2, 1957 at Levelland, Texas.
Kelly–Hopkinsville encounter
The Kelly–Hopkinsville encounter, also known as the Hopkinsville Goblins Case allegedly close encounters, and to a lesser extent the Kelly Green Men Case, is the name given to a series of allegedly connected incidents with supposed extraterrestrial beings. These were reported in the fall of 1955, the most famous and well-publicized of which centered around the Sutton family rural farmhouse, located between the Kelly hamlet and the Hopkinsville, a small city, both in Christian County, Kentucky, and this is where the incident was named after.The encounter has shaped much of the narrative of the UFO tradition, including flashing lights appearing in rural areas and sightings of little green men or called in popular culture as the Hopkinsville Goblins which occurred on the evening of August 21, 1955. The seven people present in the farmhouse claimed that they were terrorized by an unknown number of creatures similar to gremlins, and there are numbers of witnesses including several local state trooper and policemen who witnessed and heard strange and weird phenomena such as unexplained and glaring lights in the dark sky and noises.
Dyatlov Pass incident
The Dyatlov Pass Incident, resulted in the mysterious deaths of nine ski hikers or skiers in the Ural Mountains, was believed caused by unidentified orange spheres and an unknown compelling force, on February 2, 1959 night which occurred on the Kholat Syakhl mountain shoulder, a Mansi name which means Mountain of the Dead. The incident in the mountain pass, has been called Dyatlov Pass, named after the group leader of the mountain ski hikers, Igor Dyatlov. The corpses had no signs of struggle, however, the two victims had fractured skulls, two had broken ribs, and one was missing her tongue, and their clothing, when tested, was found to be highly contaminated with radioactive.

The Chicago O’Hare UFO sighting occurred on November 7, 2006, when people at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, reported to witnessed a UFO or disc shaped saucer. At approximately 4:40 a.m on Tuesday November 7, 2006 federal authorities at the airport, received a report that a group of twelve airport employees sighted a metallic, saucer-shaped craft floating over gate C-17. United Airlines employees and pilots claimed sightings of a saucer-shaped, unlit craft hovering over a Chicago O’Hare Airport terminal, before shooting up vertically.
2008 Turkey UFO sightings

Tinley Park Lights UFO sightings
On August 21, 2004, the Tinley Park Lights is a significance in a specified context to a series of UFO five mass sightings occurred, two months later on October 31, 2004, on October 1, 2005, and again on October 31, 2006, in Tinley Park, and Oak Park, Illinois, Chicago suburbs. The witnesses to each event reported seeing three silent, self-luminescent objects which were red or red-orange in color and spherical in shape, hanging in the night sky and moving slowly about in “formation” for a duration of approximately 30 minutes in each occurrence. The objects in each event were at low to intermediate altitude, and were visible from the ground for approximately 12 miles in any direction.
