A child acting on stage, television or films are called child actor or child actress, and later they are called former child actors soon they continue their acting career as an adult. Numerous child actors became famous with their acting careers as a child, but found themselves struggling with their careers as an adult. These child actors and actresses are fondly remembered because they were so cute. And as an adult, they were rarely seen or appeared in movies or television.
1) Henry Thomas
Henry Jackson Thomas, Jr. is an American actor and musician, and has appeared in more than 40 films and rose to fame in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial film in 1982, playing the role as Elliott Taylor. Thomas had already appeared in one film, Raggedy Man when he was nine years old, when he auditioned for the movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Henry Thomas is also known for his roles in 1984 films Cloak & Dagger, in 1994 Legends of the Fall and in 2002’s film Gangs of New York. Thomas is also known as the narrator of Rogue Squadron, Wedge’s Gamble and The Krytos Trap in the three Star Wars: X-Wing books.
2) Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Dee Lohan is an American actress, singer, songwriter, model, director and producer, and at age three, she began her career as a child fashion model, and at age 10, she was featured on the soap opera Another World. Lohan made her first appearance in a motion picture at age eleven in Disney’s remake in 1998’s film The Parent Trap, which became a commercial success. Lohan’s parents married in 1985, but when Lohan was age three, her parents separated, and reunited later. In 2005, her parents separated again and finalized their divorce in 2007. Lohan admitted that she had cut off contact with her father, between 2007 and 2009, describing her father’s hard to deal with and having unpredictable behavior. Lohan said that she was not a lesbian, but said in 2008, that she maybe was a bisexual. A judge ended Lohan’s probation in May 2015, after her 2012’s reckless driving issues, when Lohan completed the community service, making her probation free, and its first time in nearly 8 years.
3) Haley Joel Osment
Haley Joel Osment is an American child actor, after his roles in television and film during the 1990s, including a cameo role in Forrest Gump, as Forrest Gump’s son (the title character played by actor Tom Hanks). Osment is best known for his performance as a young unwilling medium in The Sixth Sense, a M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller film, which earned Osment a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Osment also appeared in leading roles in some Hollywood films such as Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Mimi Leder’s film Pay It Forward. Osment began playing gold at age seven, and also plays the guitar and piano. On July 20, 2006, Osment was involved in a single-driver automobile accident near his home while driving and struck a brick mailbox and overturned his car, suffering injuries such as broken rib, fractured shoulder blade, cuts, and abrasions. On October 19, 2006, Osment pleaded no contest to one count each of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol and drug possession. Osment was sentenced to three years probation, a fine of $1500, 60 hours in an alcohol rehabilitation and education program, and a minimum requirement of 26 meetings in Alcoholics Anonymous over a six-month period. In 2011, Osment graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
4) Barret Oliver
Barret Spencer Oliver is an American photographer and former child actor best known for his role as Bastian Balthazar Bux in Michael Ende’s novel film adaptation, The Never Ending Story, followed by roles in D.A.R.Y.L., Cocoon and Cocoon: The Return. Barrett Oliver became a printer and photographer, specializing in nineteenth century processes such as collodion (a process usually taken to be synonymous with the “collodion wet plate process”, a delicate and detailed process which required the photographic material to be coated, sensitized, exposed and developed within the span of about fifteen minutes, where a portable darkroom for use in the field is required) and Woodburytype (refers to both a photomechanical process and the print produced by this process). Oliver’s work has been used in many films and displayed in museum and gallery exhibitions. Oliver’s book A History of the Woodburytype was published by Carl Mautz Publishing in 2007.
5) Macaulay Culkin
Macaulay Carson Culkin is an American actor and musician, and rose to fame in 1990’s comedy film Home Alone, as a child actor for his role as Kevin McCallister and its sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York in 1992. Culkin was arrested in Oklahoma City on September 17, 2004, for the possession of 17.3 grams (0.61 oz) of marijuana and two controlled substances, Alprazolam about 16.5 milligrams (0.25 grains) and Clonazepam about 32 milligrams (0.5 gr), for which Culkin was jailed briefly, and was released on a $4,000 bail. Culkin pleaded not guilty on October 15, 2004 to June 9, 2005’s trial, after being arraigned in court for misdemeanor drug offenses, then later reversed the plea to guilty. He received three one-year suspended prison sentences and was ordered to pay $540 in fees. A viral video of Macaulay Culkin eating a cheese pizza was uploaded to YouTube in December 2013, he was parodying Andy Warhol, eating a Burger King Whopper in Danish poet and director Jørgen Leth‘s documentary 66 Scenes from America. Culkin was promoting the debut of his New York-based, pizza-themed comedy rock band the Pizza Underground. Culkin stormed off stage at Rock City (an independent music venue and nightclub located in Nottingham, England) in late May 2014, during his kazoo solo (kazoo is a musical instrument that adds a “buzzing” timbral or tone quality to a player’s voice when the player vocalizes into it), after fans began booing and throwing pints of beer at the band. Since November 2013, Culkin has been dating actress Jordan Lane Price best known for her portrayal as Celia Fitzgerald in All My Children soap opera series.
6) Kieran Culkin
Kieran Culkin is an American actor and began his career as a child actor, acting alongside his older brother Macaulay in 1990 to 1992’s comedy film Home Alone franchise, playing the role as Fuller, and later also appeared in the 1991 film Father of the Bride and its 1995 sequel. Kieran also had two lead role in The Mighty as Kevin Dillon (1998), also played as Laney’ younger brother as Simon in She’s All That. In the second season of Fargo on FX, Kieran Culkin portrayed Rye Gerhardt. In June 2013, Culkin married Jazz Charton, a foley artist in Decorah, Iowa.
7) Daniel Radcliffe
Daniel Jacob Radcliffe is an English actor best known as the tit;e character as Harry Potter, in the Harry Potter film series. At the age of 10, Radcliffe made his acting debut in BBC One’s 1999 television film David Copperfield, followed by his film debut in The Tailor of Panama in 2001. At age 11, He was cast as Harry Potter at age 11, in the first Harry Potter film, and had starred in the Harry Potter series for 10 years until the release in 2011 of the eighth and final film. Radcliffe revealed in 2008, that he has a mild form of the neurological disorder developmental coordination disorder also known as developmental dyspraxia. The motor skill disorder sometimes prevents him from doing simple activities, like writing or tying his own shoelaces. Radcliffe stopped drinking alcohol in August 2010, after realizing that he was becoming too reliant on it. Radcliffe has been dating American Erin Darke, since October 2012, whom he met on the set of Kill Your Darlings. In mid-2014, there were rumors that he and Darke is engaged, however, Ian Darke, father of Erin denied that there were any such plans in December 2014. Radcliffe has a close friendship with his Harry Potter co-stars Emma Watson and Tom Felton, which both are tight-knit with Radcliffe’s family, whom he credits for keeping him grounded. Radcliffe will star in Tokyo Vice as American reporter Jake Adelstein, which the film is expected to begin filming in Tokyo in mid-2015. He joined the group of actors and performers of Shane Carruth’s third film, The Modern Ocean in November 2015, alongside Anne Hathaway, Keanu Reeves, Tom Holland, Chloe Grace Moretz, Asa Butterfield, Jeff Goldblum and Abraham Attah.
8) Emma Watson
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is a British actress, model, and activist, who rose to fame in the Harry Potter series as Hermione Granger, appearing in all eight Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011. In 2011, Watson met and started dating fellow Oxford student Will Adamowicz, during her first year at the university, however they split in early 2014. Watson began dating Oxford rugby player Matthew Janney also in 2014, but relationship ended in November. Watson’s spokesman revealed that separation was because of her busy work schedule.
9) Rupert Grint
Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint is an English actor who rose to fame as one of the three characters in the Harry Potter series, playing the role Ron Weasley, at the age of 11, having previously acted at his local theater group in school plays. Grint starred in all eight Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011, alongside Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. In October 2013, Grint made his stage debut in Jez Butterworth’s Mojo at the Harold Pinter Theater in London. Grint is know for keeping his personal life private, but in October 2014, it was confirmed that he is in relationship. Grint along with other celebrities,took part in the ad campaign for “Make Mine Milk” to promote daily milk drinking in May 2011, and his ads can be seen across UK, on thousands of bus sides and posters. It was announced in June 2014, that Grint would make his Broadway debut in the play It’s Only a Play, as Frank Finger at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, appearing alongside Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Stockard Channing and Megan Mullaly. On August 28, 2014 he began his first performance and his last performance was on January 4, 2015.
10) Tom Felton
Thomas Andrew “Tom” Felton is an English actor, best known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series. Felton was 8 years old, when he began appearing in commercials for companies such as Commercial Union and Baeclaycard. Felton made his screen debut in 1997’s The Borrowers, in the role of Peagreen Clock and he also appeared in Louis T. Leonowens Anna and the King in 1999, and at age 12, he auditioned for the film adaptations of best selling J.K. Rowling’s novels, Harry Potter. Felton met Olivia Jade an assistant, during the Harry Potter series filming have been together since February 2008. On June 4, 2010, Felton had a cameo role in Get Him to the Greek, and was also cast in the thriller film The Apparition in February 2010. In 2011, Tom Felton played the human character Dodge Landon in the science-fiction film Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
