A bachelor is a man who is unmarried or never been married, and the term eligible bachelor denoting a young man who was not only unmarried and eligible for marriage, but also considered “eligible” in financial and societal terms for the prospective bride, and considered to be a particularly desirable potential husband due to financial status, and social status. Rock Hudson the popular movie actor during the 1950s and 1960s, was hailed as an eligible bachelor. In this society and present time, if a man chose to remain an eligible bachelor for long he may have been suspected of being gay, and have referred to in a vague expression as a bachelor or single man, a role played by closeted gay men. Men who are separated or divorced for a long period is considered bachelors.
Rock Hudson, born Roy Harold Scherer, Jr. an American actor. The Confidential magazine threatened to publish an exposé about the homosexuality of Rock Hudson, which was known in Hollywood by some colleagues. Because of this controversy, Hudson married Phyllis Gates, Willson’s secretary. Gates wrote that she dated and lived with Hudson for several months before his surprise marriage proposal, and married Hudson out of love to prevent an exposé of Hudson’s controversial homosexual issues. In April 1958, Phyllis Gates filed for divorce after three years of living together, citing mental cruelty. Rock Hudson did not contest the divorce, and Gates received $250 a week alimony for 10 years. Gates never remarried. Cher, singer and actress, claimed that she dated Cruise in 1985. On May 9, 1987, Cruise married actress Mimi Rogers, who introduced Scientology to Cruise. Their marriage lasted two years, and the divorce was finalized on February 4, 1990. In 1989, on the set of Days of Thunder filming, Cruise met his second wife, actress Nicole Kidman. Cruise and Kidman married on December 24, 1990, and the couple adopted two children, Isabella Jane (born December 1992) and Connor Antony (born January 1995). During Shriver’s pregnancy with her youngest son, Baena was then pregnant. Baena’s son with Schwarzenegger, Joseph Baena Schwarzenegger was born on October 2, 1997, while Maria Shriver gave birth to Christopher on September 27, 1997. After giving birth to her son Joseph, Baena separated from her husband, Rogelio, in 1997, and filed for divorce in 2008.

Jesse L. Martin (born Jesse Lamont Watkins is an American actor and singer, he is known for originating the role of Tom Collins in the Rent, a Broadway theatrical production, and for his portrayal as Detective Ed Green of NYPD on the Law & Order, a NBC drama television series. NBC announced on September 14, 2012, that Martin would be joining the cast of SMASH during season 2 for a nine-episode arc playing the role as Scott Welker, the artistic director of the Manhattan Theater Workshop. It was announced on March 4, 2013, that Martin would replace Lenny Kravitz as Marvin Gaye, (an American singer-songwriter and musician who was shot and killed by his own father, Marvin Gaye, Sr. on April 1, 1984 ) in an upcoming biopic directed by Julien Temple, and produced by Vassal Benton and Fred Bestall. Jesse lives in New York City, near the studio of Law & Order, with his cat, Bob Marley. Martin does not employ a maid and cleans his own house. The requirement of proving a ground was revised and may be withdrawn by the terms of ‘no-fault‘ statutes in New York, citing adultery committed by his wife Lauren Silverman, naming Simon Cowell as a co-respondent. The divorce filing became a controversial news two weeks later, when it was widely revealed that Lauren Silverman and Cowell are expecting a baby,which will be the first for Simon Cowell, and second for Lauren Silverman, who has a son with Andrew Silverman. The Silvermans settled their divorce out-of-court, in August 2013, allowing Simon Cowell to avoid being called as a witness in the divorce proceedings. Cowell confirmed that Silverman is pregnant with his child, telling the BBC, that he is proud to be a dad, and many things changed his life for the better.
