Pineapple became a rare delicacy in Europe, and was first discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493, on the Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe. Pineapple became a symbolic of power, hospitality and wealth, thus used as motif by architects, artisans and craftsman as decoration.

The most popular tourist attraction in Crimea is the Swallow’s Nest, built between 1911 and 192 in Gaspra , on top top of the 130 feet high Aurora cliff. The Neo-Gothic designed castle, by Russian architect, Leonid Sherwood, overlooking the Cappe of Ai-Todor of the Black Sea. Similar to this is the Foros Church on the outskirts of Yalta in the Crimea, also a tourists destination, overlooking the Black Sea.
