Multiracial Personalities

Multiracial and mixed race describe a person whose ancestries coming from multiple races. While biracial term, commonly used to refer two different races of parents or grandparents, thus, the multiracial term may enclose biracial people but may include people with more than two races in their heritage, or may refer to the  origin of more generation of individuals from two or more previously separated populations begin interbreeding or known as genetic admixtures, of more than one race in a DNA of a person. Multiracial may be used to refer to population or groups where a person with more than one race are counted as a whole group. It can also refer to a racially heterogeneous (different in kind) rather than a homogeneous (are all of the same kind) group or population. Interracial marriages is a union of couple with different race, for example, a white American man marrying an Asian woman, or black African woman or other ethnic races.The union of interracial marriages commonly resulting to children of mixed race or multiracial adding the race of ancestors of both couple’s sides.

David Bowie an English musician, actor, record producer, and arranger, married second wife in 1992, Somali-American model, actress and entrepreneur  Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid better known as Iman, meaning “faith” in Arabic). Iman, born in Mogadishu, Somalia, is the daughter of Marian, a gynecologist and father, Mohamed Abdulmajid, a former Somali ambassador to Saudi Arabia and a diplomat. At the age of 18, she got married to young Somali man, but separated. She married for the second time in 1977 to Spencer Haywood, an American basketball player, and has a daughter born in 1978, Zulekha Haywood. In February 1987, Iman and Haywood divorced. On April 24, 1992, Iman married David Bowie, a British rock musician in a private ceremony in Lausanne. Together they have a daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones, born August 15, 2000.Iman is the stepmother  of Duncan Jones, David Bowie’s son from a previous marriage.

Robert De Niro and Grace Hightower De Niro

American actor, director and producer Robert De Niro, age 69, his father was of Italian and Irish descent, and his mother was of English, German, French and Dutch ancestry. De Niro has twin sons, Julian Henry and Aaron Kendrik, conceived by in vitro fertilization and delivered in 1995 via a surrogate mother, from a long-term live-in relationship with former model Toukie Smith, an African-American actress and model. In 1997, Robert De Niro married his second wife, actress Grace Hightower, age 58, an American actress, singer, and philanthropist and socialite.

Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, age 29, an American computer programmer and internet entrepreneur, is best known as one of five co-founders of Facebook, the social networking website. Mark  Zuckerberg is the Facebook, Inc. as of April 2013. Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan married in Zuckerberg’s backyard on May 19, 2012, in a celebration also marking her graduation from medical school. Priscilla Chan, is the child of a Chinese-Vietnamese refugee,who arrived in the U.S. after the Fall of Saigon. Chan was born in a Boston suburb, in Braintree, Massachusetts.

In the United States, the mixed race heritage stigma, associated with racial discrimination among several racial groups, has now decreased. One example of multiracial personality is the President of the United States Barack Obama.

Barack Obama, President of the United States

Barack Obama current 44th President of the United States, is a multiracial American, as he is the son Barack Obama, Sr. of a Luo from Nyang’oma Kogelo, Kenya and Stanley Ann Dunham, who was born in Wichita, Kansas, a Europen American mother. He acknowledges both parents. Obama’s parents met at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa in 1960 in a Russian class, Obama Sr. where was a foreign student on scholarship. Obama’s parents divorced in March 1964, and in that same year, Obama Sr. returned to Kenya where he remarried, and he visited Barack in 1971 in Hawaii only once. In 1982, Obama Sr.died in a car accident. While Barack’s mother, Ann Dunham met Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian, a  Geography graduate student of East-West Center in 1963, at the University of Hawaii, and the couple were married on March 15, 1955 in Molokai. Lolo Soetero returned to Indonesia, in 1966, after two one-year extensions of his J-1 visa ( a non-immigrant visa issued by the United States to exchange visitors participating in programs. Once a J-1 visa and visitor’s program ends, the J1 visitor may remain in the United States for an additional 30 days, often referred to as a “grace period,” in order to prepare for departure from the country. If the J-1 visitor leaves the United States during these 30 days, the visitor may not re-enter with the J-1 visa). In 1967, Ann Dunham followed after sixteen months and stepson, Barack Obama, with the family residing in the Tebet subdistrict of South Jakarta in a Menteng Dalam neighborhood, then moved in a wealthier neighborhood of Central Jakarta in the Menteng subdistrict from 1970. In 1980, Obama’s mother, Dunham and stepfather, Soetoro divorced, after his mother spent most of the next two decades in Indonesia, and earning a PhD in 1992, before Ann Dunham died of ovarian cancer and uterine cancer in 1995 in Hawaii following cancer treatment.

Maya Kassandra Soetoro-Ng

Maya Kassandra Soetoro-Ng is the maternal half-sister of current U.S. President Barack Obama. She was previously a high school history teacher and university instructor in Hawaii. Soetoro-Ng was born in a Catholic hospital, Saint Carolus Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia, to Lolo Soetero, Indonesian businessman and mother Ann Dunham, American cultural anthropologist. Soetoro-Ng and Barack spent several years together in Indonesia and in Hawaii before her mother decided to return to Indonesia with her. After her parents divorced in 1980, her father, Lolo, remarried, and she had two half-siblings, Yusuf Aji Soetero, a half-brother born in 1981, and a half-sister born in 1984, Rahayu Nurmaida Soetoro. In 2003 Maya married Konrad Ng, a Chinese Malaysian descent, and Chinese Canadian from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, now a US Citizen,is an assistant professor at the Academy of Creative Media of the University of Hawaii. They have two daughters, Suhaila and Savita ( both mixed race as American, Indonesian, Chinese Malaysian descent). Soetero-Ng is fluent in Indonesian, Spanish and English.

Hansen H. Clarke

Hansen H. Clarke an American Democrat politician, he was the U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 13th congressional district from 2011 to 2013. From 1991 to 1992, 1999 through 2002, Clarke had been a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, and had represented from 2003 to 2011 the 1st District in the Michigan Senate, before he was elected to Congress. Clarke was also the first U.S. Congressman of Bangladeshi descent. Clarke was born in Detroit, Michigan to an immigrant from Banladesh, in a region of a pre-partition India, father Abdul Hashim, and to Thelma Clarke an African American mother. Clarke is married to Choi Palms-Cohen, in mid-2007, three weeks meeting in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the Institute of Continuing Legal Education  (ICLE) where she worked.

Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris an American attorney, the 32nd and current Attorney General of California, following the 2010 California State elections. From 2004 to 2011, Harris has served as San Francisco District Attorney and worked as an author and a politician. Harris was first elected in 2003, and defeated incumbent district attorney Terence Hallinan, was again re-elected in 2007. Harris is the first female African-American and Asian American attorney general in California, and she was born in Oakland, California. She is the daughter of a breast cancer specialist, Dr. Shyamala Gopalan, an Indian mother,who emigrated from Chennai, India to the United States in 1960, and Donald Harris,  a Jamaican American father, economics professor of the Stanford University.

Keanu Reeves

Keanu Charles Reeves a Canadian actor. Keanu Reeves was born in Beirut, Lebanon, the son of English descent, Patricia Bond Taylor, a costume designer, performer, and Samuel Nowlin Reeves, Jr., his father was a Hawaiian-American born of Native Hawaiian,  English, Irish, Portuguese and Chinese descent. His mother, Patricia Reeves, was working in Beirut when she met his father. Reeves’ father worked as an unskilled laborer and earned his GED while imprisoned in Hawaii for selling heroin at Hilo International Airport. Reeves was 3 years old, when his father abandoned his wife and family. Reeves does not have communication or relationship with his estranged father currently and their last meeting was when he was 13. Reeves moved around the world frequently as a child and he lived with various stepfathers.

Tiger Woods

Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods an American professional golfer, born in Cypress, California, to a retired lieutenant colonel and Vietnam War veteran, Earl Woods, an African-American, Native American and possibly of Chinese ancestry, who died in 2006. His mother, Kultida (Tida) Punsawad- Woods (born 1944) is from Thailand, where both met on a tour of duty in 1968. He is the only child of their marriage, but does have two half-brothers, Earl Jr. (born 1955) and Kevin (born 1957), and a half-sister, Royce (born 1958) from the 18-year marriage of Earl Woods and his first wife, Barbara Woods Gray. Tiger Woods is of mixed race of Thai, Chinese, Dutch, African-American ancestry. Woods refers to his mixed ethnic make race as Cablinasian, a syllabic abbreviation he phrase from Caucasian, Black, American Indian and Asian. Woods’ first name, Eldrick, Woods’ first name was chosen by his mother because it began with “E” (for Earl) and ended with “K” (for Kultida), and Tont, his middle name is a traditional Thai name. He was nicknamed Tiger after his father’s friend Col. Vuong Dang Phong, who had been called as Tiger.

Bryan Clay

Bryan Ezra Tsumoru Clay, age 33, an American decathelete, who became champion in the 2008 Summer Olympic for decathon and was also the 2005 World champion. He was born in Austin, Texas, and raised in Hawaii. Clay is Afro-Asian, because his mother, Michele Ishimoto, was a Japanese immigrant to America, while Greg Clay, father, was African-American. When Clay’s parents divorced he was in elementary school and he was raised by his mother with his younger brother, Nikolas Clay, who was also a standout athlete on the Azusa Pacific University track team. He is married to Sarah Smith and have three children together.

Beyonce Knowles

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, an American singer, songwriter and actress. Knowles was born in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Mathew Knowles, an African-American, a Xerox sales manager, and mother Tina Beyince- Knowles an African-American Louisiana Creole, hairdresser and salon owner. Beyonce’s mother,Tina, has African, French, Irish, and Native American ancestry. Beyoncé’s name is a tribute to her mother’s maiden name. She is the elder sister of Solange Knowles, also a singer, songwriter, and actress.

Halle Berry

Halle Maria Berry born Maria Halle Berry an American actress and former fashion model. Her mother, Judith Ann Hawkins, an English and German descent, was a psychiatric nurse. Her father, Jerome Jesse Berry, was an African American hospital attendant in the same psychiatric ward where her mother worked, he became a bus driver. Nellie Dicken, Berry’s maternal grandmother, was born in Sawley, Derbyshire, England, United Kingdom, while her maternal grandfather, Earl Ellsworth Hawkins, was born in Ohio. Halle Berry was four years old when her parents divorced, she and her older sister Heidi were raised by her mother.

Gloria Hendry

 

Gloria Hendry an American actress, sometimes praise as “Gloria Henry.” In 1968, Hendry began her acting career in the film For Love of Ivy starred by Sidney Poitier. Hendry is maybe known for portraying Rosie Carver the Bond girl in the Live and Let Die, a James Bond film. In that film, Hendry became the first African American woman to become involved romantically with James Bond 007. Hendry is of Seminole, Chinese, Creek Indian, Irish and African descent.

Tina Turner

Anna Mae Bullock better known as Tina Turner, is a singer, dancer and actress, born in the United States, but now she is Swiss. Her mother Zelma Priscilla Currie, had Cherokee and Navajo, and African American ancestry. Her father Floyd Richard Bullock is of African American, Native American and European American descent. Tina Turner met German music executive, while at a record label party in London, Erwin Bach, in 1985, her current partner. A Swiss publication reported on April 2013, that Turner and Bach are planning to get married. It was revealed on January 25, 2013 that Turner had applied for Swiss citizenship and would renounce her US citizenship. Turner undertook a mandatory citizenship test in April 2013 which included advanced knowledge of the German language and of Swiss history, and she passed without problems. Turner was issued a Swiss passport on April 22, 2013 and is now a citizen of Switzerland.

Seal

Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel known by his stage name Seal, is a British soul and R&B singer-songwriter. Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel was born in Paddington, London, England. His biological mother, Adebisi is a Nigerian and his father Francis Samuel is Brazilian. In the Yoruba language, one of his middle names, Olusegun, means “God is victorious”. Seal  was raised by his foster family in a district of the City of Westminster in inner London. Seal’s scars on his face are result from discoid lupus erythematosus, a type of Lupus, although there have been rumors, that the scars are result from a tribe ritual practices.  Discoid lupus erythematosus is a condition that specifically affects the skin above the neck. Seal married Heidi Klum a German model on May 10, 2005, on a beach in Mexico near Seal’s home on Costa Careves.The couple have three children, making them mixed race, Nigerian, Brazilian and German multiracial, and Seal adopted Heidi’s eldest daughter from previous relationship. Seal and Klum announced on January 22, 2012, that they were separating after nearly 7 years of marriage.

Dwayne Johnson

 

Dwayne Douglas Johnson best known by his WWE ring name as The Rock, an American actor and semi-retired professional wrestler. Dwayne Johnson was born in Hayward, California, to retired Canadian professional wrestler, Rocky Johnson, is of Black Nova Scotian Canadian, and his mother, (Feagaimaleata Fitisemanu Maivia) Ata Maivia-Johnson is of Samoan heritage. Dwayne Johnson, became Canadian Citizen through his father. Like his father, grandfather, and other Johnson’s relatives were professional wrestlers, such as Afa, Sika Anoa’i (The Wild Samoans) and his cousins, Umaga, Manu, Yokozuna, Rikishi and Rosey. On May 3, 1997, Johnson married Dany Garcia, of Cuban descent, a day after his 25th birthday, and together they have a daughter, Simone Alexandra Johnson, who was born August 14, 2001. Johnson and wife Dany Garcia, announced they were separating amicably and intended to spend the rest of their lives together as best friends on June 1, 2007.

“Rob” Schneider

Robert Michael “Rob” Schneider an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, and director, best known for his comedy films Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, The Hot Chicks, and Grown Ups. Schneider was born in San Francisco, California, and grew up Pacifica suburb. He is the son of Filipina-American Pilar Monroe-Schneider, a former kindergarten teacher and ex-school board president, and his father Marvin Schneider, a real estate broker. Rob Schneider’s father was Jewish and his mother was Catholic. Rob’s Schneider maternal grandmother was a Filipina who met and married his maternal white American grandfather, army private, while he was stationed in the Philippines. Rob Schneider married Patricia Azarcoya Arce, Mexican television producer, on April 23, 2011, in Beverly Hills, CA. On November 16, 2012, the couple welcomed their first child, daughter Miranda Scarlett Schneider.

John Ensign

John Eric Ensign a former United States from Nevada, serving from January 2001 until he resigned in May 2011 in the middle an investigation of an ethics violation, the Senate panel referred the case to the Department of Justice. Ensign is a member of the Republican Party, and former Senate Republican Policy Committee chairman. Ensign works at West Flamingo Animal Hospital as a veterinarian in Las Vegas. Ensign was born in Roseville, California, to mother Sharon Lee Cipriani, whose father was Italian, with Mueller as surname. Ensign noted that he is one eighth (1/8) Filipino, because of his paternal grandfather who was born in the Philippines, and was half-Filipino and half-German. Ensign is a multiracial with Italian, American, Filipino and German ancestry. Ensign and his wife, Darlene, were active in the Promise Keepers, since they he became a born-again Christian, an evangelical group. He and his wife have three children. In November 2009, Ensign moved out of the C Street house, after revelation of an extramarital affair between 2007 to 2008, with Cynthia Hampton.

Bobby Scott

Robert Cortez “Bobby” Scott is the U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 3rd congressional district, takes in most of Richmond, all of Portsmouth, and Norfolk, Hampton parts including Scott’s home in Newport News, Virginia, serving since 1993.  Scott is a member of the Democratic Party. Scott was born in Washington D.C.,  but grew up in Newport News, Virginia. Scott is a multiracial personality of African-America, and maternal grandfather of Filipino-American descent. He is a Harvard College graduate from with an A.B. in government and with his Juris Doctor at the Boston College of Law, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.

Lou Diamond Phillips

Lou Diamond Phillips born as Lou Diamond Upchurch a Filipino-American, a television, and stage actor and director. He was born at the Subic Bay U.S. Naval Station in Zambales, Philippines. His mother, Lucita Aranas , a native of Candelaria, Quezon province, a Filipino-Chinese descent and father, Gerald Upchurch, an officer in the United States Navy, an American of Scottish-Irish and one-quarter Cherokee descent. Phillips’ name was taken from Leland “Lou” Diamond, a Marine legend, and used his stepfather surname, Phillips after his father died. Phillips grew up and was raised in Texas. During the making of Trespasses, He met Julie Cypher, an assistant director, and married on September 17, 1987, divorced on August 5, 1990. Phillips met Jennifer Tilly, to whom he was briefly engaged, but split up. Phillips married Kelly Preston, a television extra and Penthouse model, both have twin daughters, Grace Moorea and Isabella Patricia born on October 5, 1997, and currently living with their mother, since the separation of Phillips and Preston in 2004 and their divorce was finalized in July 2007. In 2004, he began dating Yvonne Boismier, artist, after his separation. Phillips and Boismier married in August 2007 after the finalization of Phillips’ divorce from Preston. On October 2007, their daughter, Indigo Sanara Phillips, was born.

Tia Carerre

Tia Carrere born Althea Rae Janairo an Filipino-American actress, model, voice artist and singer, and had her first big break on daytime soap opera General Hospital as a regular cast. Carrere was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Filipino parents, Audrey Duhinio Janairo, a computer supervisor, and Alexander Janairo, a banker. Carrere claims of her race as multiracial as Filipino, Chinese and Spanish descent and raised in Hawaii. In 1992, Carrere married Elie Samaha, film producer, and divorced in February 2000. In 1999,Tia Carrere was accused of having an affair with Tie Domi, also married, of Toronto Maple Leaf. She married second husband Simon Wakelin, photojournalist on November 30, 2002. They have a daughter, Bianca, born September 25, 2005. Carrere filed for divorce in person at the Los Angeles Superior Court on April 2, 2010, citing irreconcilable differences and asked for sole physical custody of Bianca, their daughter. On August 2010, their divorce was finalized, with the court decision of sharing custody of Bianca. Carrere is now residing in Los Angeles.

Sugar Pie DeSanto

Sugar Pie DeSanto born Umpeylia Marsema Balinton, a Filipino-American rhythm and blues singer during the 1950s to 1960s. She was born to an African-American  concert pianist mother and a Filipino father. The 4’11 DeSanto spent most of her early life in San Francisco, California, where her family moved when she was at young age. As a girl She became friends with Etta James as a young girl. DeSanto was married twice to Jesse Earl Davis, over a 27-year relationship. Jesse Earl Davis died in October 2006, attempting to put out a fire with fire using fire extinguisher that destroyed their apartment in Oakland, California.

Jennifer Tilly

Jennifer Tilly born Jennifer E. Chan in Harbor City, Los Angeles, a Canadian-American actress and poker player. Tilly is a nominee of the Academy Award, and a bracelet winner during the World Series of Poker Ladies Event. Meg Tilly is her younger sister, as she was the eldest daughter to Harry Chan was of a Chinese descent, a used car salesman, and mother, Patricia Tilly-Chan, a Canadian school teacher and former stage actress, and of Irish, Finnish and Native American ancestry. She was age five, when her parents divorced, and she was raised by her mother and John Ward, stepfather, on rural Texada Island, British Columbia. Jennifer Tilly was age 16, when her mother and stepfather divorced again and moved to Victoria. She was romantically involved with Lou Diamond Phillips, although it was a brief relationship. Tilly married American-Estonian descent, Sam Simon, a developer and The Simpsons producer, from 1984 until 1991.

Carrie Ann Inaba

Carrie Ann Inaba an American actress, dancer, choreographer,game show host and singer. She started her singing career in Japan, but became popular for her dancing, has appeared as one of three  Dancing with the Stars judges on the ABC television series, a show that pairs celebrities with professional dancers or dance instructors (DI) as they train and then compete in front of a studio audience.She was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, but lived in Tokyo, Japan from 1986 to 1988 and became famous with her singing career and became fluent with Japanese language. Inaba is of Chinese, Japanese and Irish descent. Inaba revealed in 2011 interview with Prevention, that she is legally blind, having a vision of 20/750 which is corrected with glasses and contact lenses, and also revealed that she is suffering from spinal stenosis, an abnormal narrowing of the spinal canal that may occur in any of the regions of the spine.

Kip Fulbeck

Kip Fulbeck is an American artist, spoken word performer, filmmaker and author. His work explores identity politics. Fullbeck is a mixed ethnic race of Cantonese, English, Irish and Welsh. He is famous for creating The Hapa Project, which his work addressing Hapa, (a person of mixed Asian or Pacific Islander heritage) and multiracial identity.

Ne-Yo

Shaffer Chimere Smith better known by his stage name Ne-Yo, is a Grammy Awards winning American R&B recording artists, record producer, dancer and actor. Ne-Yo was born in Camden, Arkansas, to African, American and Chinese descent mother and African-American descent father. Both of his parents were musicians, but was raised by his mother as a young child, after she separated from his father. In 2005, Jessica White, Ne-Yo’s girlfriend gave birth to a boy, in 2005, naming him Chimere after Ne-Yo’s middle name. Ne-yo later discovered the child was not his, though believing that Chimere is his son. Ne-yo is now in civil action with the child’s mother. Ne-yo’s girlfriend, Monyetta Shaw gave birth early on November 12, 2010 to a girl, Madilyn Grace Smith, in Atlanta, Georgia. Shaw gave birth to their second child, a boy, Mason Evan Smith, on October 9, 2011.

Olivia Munn

Lisa Olivia Munn credited as Lisa Munn, however she has been using the name Olivia Munn since 2006, personally and professionally. Olivia Munn, is an American actress, comedian, model, television personality and author. She was born in Oklahama City, Oklahoma to a Chinese descent mother who was raised in Vietnam and a German, and Irish descent father. When Munn was age two, Munn’s mother married her second husband, a United States Air Force member, and the family relocated many times. Munn was raised in Tokyo, Japan where the military stationed her stepfather. Her parents divorced and she moved back to Oklahoma. Olivia Munn is in a relationship with Joel Kinnaman, an American-Swedish actor .

Tila Tequila or Tila Nguyen

Tila Nguyen best known as Tila Tequila and Miss Tila, is a Singaporean-born American model and TV personality, noted for her appearances in Stuff, Penthouse and Maxim men’s magazines. Tila Nguyen was born in Singapore, where the family from Vietnam, emigrated after the Vietnam War. Ngyuyen is the youngest of three children, older brother, Daniel and older sister, Terri, born to a half French mother and full Vietnamese father. Their family moved to Houston, Texas, when Tila Nguyen was age one, and were admitted to gated community under the strict leadership of Buddhist Temple, but left the said community when Tila was eight years old. Tila became a tomboy or lesbian while studying in middle school. Tila Nguyen was allegedly choked and prevented by Shawne Merriman her former boyfriend on September 6, 2009, who was later arrested. Nguyen revealed she was engaged to Casey Johnson, heiress and who was found dead on January 4, 2010, who had been suffering from I Diabetes.  On February 4, 2010, The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office announced that Johnson, who neglected to take her medications died from a life-threatening diabetic ketoacidosis, condition caused by a lack of insulin and high blood sugar and died in natural death. Nguyen was reported on March 7, 2012, has agreed to check into rehab after an attempted suicide and she “almost died” by unnamed pills overdosed, and have completed her rehab treatment on April 5, 2012.

Moon Bloodgoode

Korinna Moon Bloodgood was born in Anaheim, California, is an American actress, model, and one of the Laker Girls at age 17, and was known for her role as Lt. Blair Williams in the Terminator Salvation, a 2009 film and as Anne Glass, Falling Skies TNT television series. Her father, Shell Bloodgood, is an American, Dutch and Irish descent, and her mother is a Korean, Sang Cha. Her father, Shell Boodgood was stationed in South Korea where he met her Korean mother, Sang Cha.

Crystal Kay

Crystal Kay Williams best known as Crystal Kay, is a Japanese recording artist and radio host and occasional actress, and started her career at the age of 13. Kay was born to an African-American father and a Zainichi Korean ( ethnic Korean citizens or residents of Japan ) mother and Crystal Kay was raised in Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture. Her father was from New Jersey, a sailor in the United States Navy stationed in Yokosuka, Japan and also a bassist. Sonja Sohn

Sonja Sohn an American actress and community activist, best known for her role as Detective Kima Greggs on The Wire HBO drama series, and as Detective Samantha Baker on Body of Proof, the ABC drama series. Sohn also starred and co-writer of the Slam, an independent film. Sohn was born in Newport News, Virginia to an African-American soldier father, in the United States Army, and met her Korean mother when he was stationed in South Korea after the Korean War. After Sohn’s older brother was born, her mother decided to move to the United States as she felt that a child of mixed Korean and African-American parentage would be discriminated against in Korea.

Sean Lennon

Sean Taro Ono Lennon the only child of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, is a Japanese Anglo-American musician -composer. He is the half brother of Julian Lennon, the only child of John Lennon to his first wife, Cynthia Powell, a British musician and Kyoko Chan Cox, daughter of Yoko Ono from second husband, American jazz musician, film producer, and art promoter, Anthony Cox. Sean Lennon is a mixed race of English and Irish descent on his father’s side and Japanese descent on his mother’s side. After Sean’s birth, John became a househusband, taking care on his young son until in 1980′s gruesome murder of John Lennon.

Jason Momoa

Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa an American actor and model, an only child. Momoa was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but grew up and raised by his mother, Coni, a photographer, in Norwalk, Iowa and his father, Joseph Momoa, a painter, a Native Hawaiian descent.His mother, is of German, Irish and Native American ancestry. In 2005, Jason Momoa met actress Lisa Bonet. On July 23, 2007, Bonet gave birth to their daughter, Lola Iolani Momoa on July 23, 2007, and a son, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa, born on December 15, 2008. According to Momoa’s mother, Nakoa means “warrior”, Mana stands for “strength or spirit,” while Kaua means “rain” and Po means “dark” related to the event surrounding his birthday , because his grandson,  was born on a Los Angeles’ rare bad-weather night. He shares his other middle name, Namakaeha, with his father. Jason Momoa was slashed in the face with a broken beer glass at Hollywood, California’s Birds Cafe club, on November 15, 2008. He was rushed to a hospital and underwent reconstructive surgery with around 140 stitches, and his scars are still visible in his current appearance. Dominic Bando the 21 year-old suspect causing Momoa’s face injury, who lives in Venice Beach, California, was convicted of the crime and is serving a five-year sentence at California State Prison, Corcoran.

Lisa Bonet

Lisa Michelle Bonet, known by her stage name as Lisa Bonet, changed her name to Lilakoi Moon, is an American actress. She is best known for her NBC sitcom The Cosby Show role as Denise Huxtable, and originally starred in A Different World spinoff. Bonet was born in San Francisco California to African-American father, Allen Bonet, an operatic singer who was born in Texas, and her Jewish mother, Arlene Litman, was a teacher. She has several younger half-siblings. On her 20th birthday, on November 16, 1987, she eloped with Lenny Kravitz, a singer in Las Vegas, Nevada, but their relationship did not last. On December 1, 1988,  Bonet gave birth to daughter Zoe Isabella. Bonet legally changed her name to Lilakoi Moon in 1992, but still uses the name Lisa Bonet professionally. In 2005, Bonet met actor Jason Momoa, in 2005, who is noted for his roles in the television shows Baywatch, Stargate Atlantis, Game of Thrones the HBO series and the remake of the Conan the Barbarian in 2011. On July 23, 2007, Bonet gave birth to her second child Lola Iolani Momoa, on July 23, 2007 the first of two children with Momoa, and (3rd child for Bonet) and second for Momoa, on December 15, 2008, they had a son named Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa.

Roberts was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Betty Lou Bredemus, a Roman Catholic which Julia followed, and Walter Grady Roberts, a Baptist. Julia Roberts is of English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, German, and Swedish descent. Julia Roberts had a brief relationship with actor, Kiefer Sutherland, they broke up three days before their wedding date on June 11, 1991. Roberts married country singer Lyle Lovette, on June 25, 1993, the wedding took place at St. James Lutheran Church in Marion, Indiana, but in March 1995, the couple ended the relation and divorced. Roberts dated actor Benjamin Bratt from 1998 to 2001, and while in relationship with Bratt, Roberts met on the set of her 2000 film, The Mexican, cameraman, Daniel Moder, and later got married. Benjamin Bratt an American actor, best known for his role as Rey Curtis on the Law and Order TV series and his appearances in the movies Miss Congeniality, where he met Julia Roberts and dated in 1998 but spilt after four months. Bratt was born in San Francisco, California, the son of Eldy Banda, a nurse, a Peruvian Indigenous activist of the Quechua ethnic group, born in Peru moved to United States at age 9 and father, Peter Bratt, Sr., a sheet metal worker, an American-German, New Zealand-English descent. They married December 30, 1960, in San Francisco but divorced in September 1967. On April 13, 2002, Bratt married his pregnant girlfriend, actress Talisa Soto, (Puerto Rican descent), in San Francisco. Bratt and Soto met ten years earlier during the casting audition of Blood In Blood Out and saw each other on and off. Their first daughter Sophia Rosalinda Bratt, was born on December 6, 2002, and on October 3, 2005, their second child, son Mateo Bravery Bratt, was born in Los Angeles.

Aguilera was born in Staten Island, New York and raised in Wexford, Pennsylvania to parents Fausto Xavier Aguilera, a soldier in the United States Army and Shelly Loraine Fidler, a violinist and pianist. Aguilera’s father is Ecuadorian, while her American mother is of German, Irish, Welsh, and Dutch ancestry. During Aguilera’s  father’s service in the Army, her family moved to different locations, including New Jersey, Texas, New York, and Japan. Tatyana Ali is the oldest daughter of an African-Panamanian mother and a Trinidadian father of East Indian descent. Tatyana Ali has two younger sisters. From 1995 to 1998, Ali dated actor Jonathan Gregory Brandis, or Jonathan Brandis, an American actor, director and screenwriter, who was found dead hanging himself at age 27, on November 2003.

Gina Torres

Gina Torres an American television and movie actress, known for her role as Nebula, in television series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, as Cleopatra in Xena: Warrior Princess, and Cleopatra 2525 the short-lived TV show. Torres, is a mezzo soprano started her singing career in an early age. Torres was born in Manhattan, New York City at the Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital, the youngest of three children. Her family lived in Washington Heights for a short period, before moving to The Bronx. Her father worked as a typesetter for La Prensa and the New York Daily News, and parents were both of multiracial Cuban descent. Onika Tanya Maraj better known as Nicki Minaj a Trinidadian-born American rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, and television personality. Onika Tanya Maraj or Nicki Minaj was born to Carol and Robert Maraj in Saint James, a suburb of Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago. Minaj is a mixed race of Indian and Afro–Trinidadian ancestry and has two siblings. Minaj is the only female rapper to be featured on Forbes’s Hip Hop Cash Kings list, ranking at No. 8, having earned from May 2011 to May 2012, $US15.5 million. Many Critics recognized Minaj’s use of different sexual identities within her music, with some indicating that she is bisexual, and was reported saying that she does not date or have sex with women, but added in an interview with Out magazine, “I don’t date men either.

Jero

Jerome Charles White, Jr. better known by his stage name Jero an American Enka singer of African-American and Japanese descent, and was the first black enka singer in the history of Japanese music. Enka is a popular Japanese music genre considered similar to traditional Japanese music, developed in the postwar era, in a  sentimental ballad music form. At the age of six, Jero began singing Enka actively  because of Takiko, his grandmother’s influence, who had met his grandfather, an African-American serviceman, at a dance during World War II.  Jero always wanted to keep his hip hop attire,since he started performing enka music, but his record company was a bit hesitant at first, because most of Enka singers wear a kimono in their performances, which Jero felt was not suitable for him. Jero was allowed to maintain the hip hop image, after his management company permitted him not to wear kimono and became successful as it is one of the many factors that contribute to his popularity.

Kelis

Kelis Rogers better known as Kelis, is an American singer-songwriter and certified chef, and has 9 top ten singles in the United Kingdom, outside United States. Kelis appeared on the European tour their Elevation Tour, Moby’s Area One Tour supported by U2, The Onyx Hotel Tour of Britney Spears, and her own All Hearts Tour with Robyn. Kelis was born and raised in Manhattan, New York City, the Harlem neighborhood. Her first name Kelis, is a combination of her father’s name, Kenneth (1944–2000) an African American jazz musician, and Pentecostal minister and her mother’s name, Eveliss is a Puerto Rican and Chinese fashion designer who inspired Kelis to pursue her singing career. She is the third born of the four girls. In 2002, Kelis met Nasir Jones at an MTV Video Music Awards party, and married in January 2005. Kelis firled for divorce in April 2009, citing “irreconcilable differences”, during that time, Kelis was seven months pregnant and gave birth to a son, Knight, on July 22, 2009. On May 21, 2010, Kelis and Nasir’s divorce was finalized. A New York City judge, ordered on July 23, Nasir Jones to pay Kelis Rogers $55,000 per month in child and spousal support.
