Celebrities With Mixed Race Children

There are several famous white celebrities in the film and music industry who have adorable black or mixed race children. These successful celebrities are not bothered even though they are criticized for adopting bi-racial children.

1)  Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie adopted her first child on March 10, 2002, seven-month-old Maddox Chivan, from an orphanage in a local village in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, born as Rath Vibol on August 5, 2001. While filming the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider  in 2001, Jolie applied for adoption after she had visited Cambodia twice, and on a UNHCR field mission. However, in December 2001, the adoption process was on hold when the U.S. government banned adoptions from Cambodia in the middle of child trafficking allegations. After adoption process was finalized, Jolie took custody of Maddox in Namibia, where she was filming Beyond Borders in 2003. Jolie adopted Maddox as a single parent despite of announcing the adoption made by both Jolie and ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton. On July 6, 2005, Jolie adopted a daughter, six-month-old Zahara Marley,born Yemsrach on January 8, 2005, in Awasa, from an orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Zahara was believed mistakenly to be an AIDS orphan during the time of adoption, and it was also unknown if Jolie had contracted HIV, but she later tested negative. Soon Jolie who was accompanied by her partner Brad Pitt, to take custody of Zahara, returned to the United States, Zahara was hospitalized for dehydration and malnutrition. Brad Pitt was seeking to adopt Maddox and Zahara in December 2005 according to Pitt’s publicist, and Angelina Jolie filed a request to legally change her children’s surnames from Jolie to Jolie-Pitt, and was granted on January 19, 2006 and was soon finalized. In an attempt to avoid the media frenzy surrounding their relationship, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt went to Namibia for the birth of their first biological child, a daughter, Shiloh Nouvel born on May 27, 2006, in Swakopmund. Pitt and Jolie’s newborn baby was holding a Namibian passport as confirmed by Pitt. On March 15, 2007, Angelina Jolie adopted a son, three-year-old Pax Thien, on March 15, 2007 from an orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam. Pax Thien who was abandoned by parents after birth, was born as Pham Quang Sang on November 29, 2003. Pax was adopted by Jolie as a single parent, because regulation for adoption in  Vietnam, do not allow unmarried couples to co-adopt. Angelina Jolie filed a request to legally change her Pax’s surname from Jolie to Jolie-Pitt, in April, and was approved on May 31, 2007. Then on February 21, 2008, Pitt’s adoption of Pax was finalized in the United States. At the Cannes Film Festival, Angelina Jolie confirmed in May 2008, that she was expecting twins. On July 12, 2008, Jolie gave birth to a son, Knox Léon, and a daughter, Vivienne Marcheline.

2)  Sandra Annette Bullock

American actress and producer, Sandra Annette Bullock, announced on April 28, 2010, that she had pushed through of adopting a son born in January 2010 in New Orleans. Sandra Bullock and husband Jesse James, television reality personality, had begun an initial adoption process four months earlier. In January 2010, Bullock’s son, Louis Bardo Bullock, began living with them, but they chose to keep the news secretly, and was revealed in March 2010, after the Oscars award. However, Sandra Bullock filed for divorce on April 28, 2010, was finalized on June 28, 2010, citing of conflict of personalities as the reason. Bullock adopted of her son Louis Bardo Bullock, as a single parent.

3)   Madonna

American singer-songwriter, actress and entrepreneur. Madonna, filed for adoption on October 10, 2006, for a boy from the orphanage, David Banda Mwale, and was later renamed David Banda Mwale Ciccone Ritchie. The adoption process became an issue, because according to the Malawian law, the would-be parents are required to reside in Malawi for a year before adopting a child, which Madonna did not abide, and stated, that Malawi had no written adoption laws that regulated foreign adoption, addressed during The Oprah Winfrey Show. Madonna described how David Mwale Ritchie was suffering from pneumonia after he survived from malaria and tuberculosis when she first met the baby. Yohane Mwale, Banda’s biological father, stated, that he was harassed and threatened by so-called human rights activists, and want him to support their court case, which he declined because he gave his consent of adoption between Madonna and then-husband Ritchie. On May 28, 2008, Banda Mwale’s adoption was finalized. Madonna filed for divorce from Ritchie and was finalized in December 2008, citing irreconcilable differences. Madonna decided to adopt again from Malawi, which the High Court approved initially the adoption of Chifundo “Mercy” James, however, the adoption process was rejected because Madonna was not a resident of Malawi. On June 12, 2009, Madonna appealed, and was granted by the Supreme Court of Malawi the right to adopt Mercy James.

 4)  Joely Fisher

American actress Joely Fisher best known for her television role as Paige Clark on Ellen, and as Joy Stark in the Fox sitcom Til Death, and as a guest judge recently on RuPaul’s Drag U, and also in films and on stage. Joely Fisher is the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Connie Stevens, was born in Burbank, California. Joely Fisher’s younger sister is actress Tricia Leigh Fisher, has a half sister, actress Carrie Fisher and a half-brother, Todd Fisher, from her father’s previous marriage to actress Debbie Reynolds. Joely Fisher was at the age of two when her parents divorced, and she was raised by her mother, Connie Stevens. On December 31, 1996, Joely Fisher married cinematographer Christopher Duddy. Together they have three daughters, Skylar Grace,born June 14, 2001, True Harlow, born February 2, 2006 and on September 2008 they adopted a daughter, Olivia Luna. She became a stepmother to Cameron and Collin, Duddy’s two sons from his previous marriage. The family resides in Los Angeles next to Tricia Fisher’s home, with whom Joely is very close. Joely Fisher became an Artist Ambassador for Save the Children in late 2008, and also visited the children as part of the child sponsorship programs in Xai-Xai, Mozambique.

5)  Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro and his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, have a son, Raphael, a former actor who works in New York real estate. De Niro also adopted Drena De Niro, Abbott’s daughter from her previous relationship. Robert De Niro and Abbott divorced in 1988. De Niro has twin sons conceived via in vitro fertilization born by a surrogate mother in 1995, from his long-term live-in relationship with African American actress and former model Toukie A. Smith, the sister of late fashion designer Willi Smith. De Niro married his second wife, actress Grace Hightower in 1997, at their Marbletown home. Together they had a son, Elliott, was born in 1998 and the couple split in 1999. The divorce was never finalized and in 2004 they renewed their vows. Their daughter Helen Grace, was born via surrogate in December 2011. In addition to his six children, De Niro has four grandchildren, one from his daughter Drena, three from his son Raphael.

6)  Mick Jagger

English musician, singer, songwriter and actor, Mick Jagger, best known as the lead vocalist and a co-founder of the Rolling Stones, has seven children with four women, first with black American singer, actress, model and novelist Marsha Hunt, he has daughter Karis Hunt Jagger (born November 4, 1970), his first wife Nicaraguan-born former actress, social and human rights advocate Bianca De Macias, he has daughter Jade Sheena Jezebel Jagger (born October 21, 1971), with his second wife Jerry Hall, he has daughter Elizabeth “Lizzie” Scarlett Jagger (born March 2, 1984), son James Leroy Augustin Jagger (born August 28, 1985), daughter Georgia May Ayeesha Jagger (born January 12, 1992) and son Gabriel Luke Beauregard Jagger (born December 9, 1997) and a son Lucas Maurice Morad Jagger (born May 18, 1999) with Luciana Gimenez. Mick Jagger also has four grandchildren, and expects to become a great-grandfather in 2014 through Assisi, his granddaughter, who is the daughter of Jade Jagger.

7)  Heidi Klum

German-American model, television host, businesswoman, fashion designer, television producer and occasional actress, Heidi Klum, who became an American citizen in 2008, but maintained her native German citizenship. Klum married stylist Ric Pipino in 1997 and divorced in 2002. In 2003, Heidi Klum had a relationship with Flavio Briatore, the managing director of Renault’s Formula One Team, and gave birth to their daughter, Helene Boshoven “Leni” Klum in May 2004, in New York City. In the midst of her pregnancy to Leni, Klum began her relationship with musician Seal in early 2004.  In May 10, 2005 Klum married English-Nigerian singer Seal on a beach in Mexico. Seal became Leni’s de facto father, since Briatore was no longer involved with Heidi. Seal and Klum have three biological children together, sons Henry Gunther Ademola Dashtu Samuel, born 2005 and Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel, born 2006 and daughter Lou Sulola Samuel born 2009. Klum officially adopted Seal’s surname and became legally known as Heidi Samuel, on November 21, 2009. Seal and Klum announced on January 22, 2012, that they were separating after almost seven years of marriage. On April 6, 2012, Klum filed for divorce from Seal three months later and also requested that her name returned to Heidi Klum, her birth name. Heidi Klum was in a relationship with her bodyguard Martin Kristen from September 2012 until early 2014.

8)  Bob Dylan

American musician, singer-songwriter, and artist Bob Dylan, first married Sara Lownds on November 22, 1965. On January 6, 1966, their first child, Jesse Byron Dylan, was born and they had three more children, Anna Lea, born July 11, 1967, Samuel Isaac Abraham, born July 30, 1968 and Jakob Luke, born December 9, 1969. Bob Dylan also adopted Sara Lownds’ daughter from a previous marriage, Maria Lownds later changed to Dylan, born October 21, 1961. Maria Dylan is married to musician Peter Himmelman in 1988.  On June 29, 1977, Bob and Sara Dylan divorced. In the 1990s, Dylan’s son Jakob became popular as the lead singer of The Wallflowers band, while Bob Dylan’s other son, Jesse Dylan is a film director and a successful businessman. Bob Dylan married his longtime backup singer Carolyn Dennis (sometimes known as Carol Dennis) in June 1986. Their daughter, Desiree Gabrielle Dennis-Dylan, was born on January 31, 1986. The couple divorced in October 1992. Their marriage and child remained a secret until the publication of Dylan’s biography, Down the Highway: The Life Of Bob Dylan by Howard Sounes in 2001. Dylan lives in Malibu, California,  as of 2009.

9)  Shadoe Stevens

Shadoe Stevens is an American radio host, voice-over actor, and television personality, former host of American Top 40 from 1988 to 1995. In television, Stevens is the voice of The Late Late Shows with Craig Ferguson, and also voiced for G.O.D. in the Off-Broadway musical Altar Boyz. Shadoe Stevens is also heard on Hits & Favorites, working on air at least once a week to share wisdom with his brother Richard Stevens and their friend Lori St. James. Shadoe Stevens was first married to Linda in 1967 had a child and divorced 1978, he then married Cynthia Gaydos in 1980 was divorced, 1984, and in 1986, he married international model Beverly Cunningham. Stevens has three children, a son, Brad, from his first marriage and two daughters from his third marriage, Amber Dawn born October 7, 1986 and Chyna Rose. Shadoe’s daughter Amber Stevens, is an actress noted for her role in the ABC Family Channel series Greek. Shadoe’s son Richard Stevens, is a disc jockey on Hits & Favorites on Citadel Media format.

10)  Mary-Louise Parker

American actress Mary-Louise Parker, best known for her lead role as Nancy Botwin, on Showtime’s television series Weeds, where she received the 2006′s Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Parker was also noted for her films and series such as RED,RED 2, Fried Green Tomatoes, Boys on the Side, The West Wing and Angels in America. Mary Louise Parker dated actor Billy Crudup, from 1997 to November 2003, left her two months earlier before she gave birth to a son, William Atticus Parker, born on January 7, 2004. Parker began dating actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan in December 2006, whom she met on the set of Weeds. In June 2007, Parker and Morgan split for a while, but later reconciled. Parker and Morgan announced their engagement on February 12, 2008, however split up again in April 2008. Mary Louise Parker adopted a baby girl from Ethiopia in September 2007, and named her Caroline ‘Ash’ Aberash Parker.

11)  Tom Cruise

American film actor and producer Tom Cruise, born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, had a relationship with his co-star in Risky Business actress Rebecca De Mornay from 1983 to 1985, also on the same year, singer and actress Cher claimed that she dated Cruise. On May 9, 1987, Cruise married actress Mimi Rogers, also introduced Cruise to Scientology, but their marriage lasted two years, and their divorce was finalized on February 4, 1990. In 1989, Cruise met his second wife, actress Nicole Kidman, on the film Days of Thunder set, and got married on December 24, 1990. Cruise and Kidman adopted two children, Isabella Jane, born December 1992 and a black baby, Connor Antony, born January 1995. Cruise filed for divorce from Kidman in February 2001, unknowingly she was pregnant, however it ended with a miscarriage.Kidman clarified rumors in 2007 about her miscarriage during her marriage to Cruise, stated in an interview, “It was wrongly reported,” and explained that she had an ectopic pregnancy, before her next marriage, to musician Keith Urban. Tom Cruise began dating actress Katie Holmes in April 2005. Cruise and Holmes announced on October 6, 2005, that they were expecting a child, and in April 2006, their daughter, Suri, was born. Holmes and Cruise were married on November 18, 2006 at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy, in a Scientology ceremony. Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise on June 29, 2012, after five and a half years of marriage.

12)  Hugh Jackman

Australian actor and producer Hugh Michael Jackman, better known as Hugh Jackman, who is involved in film, musical theater, and television, known for his long-running role as Wolverine in the X-Men film series. Hugh Jackman, age 45 is married to Australian actress, director and producer Deborra-Lee Furness, age 59, on April 11, 1996 at St. John’s in Toorak,Victoria, Melbourne, Australia. Jackman met Furness on the set of Correlli, an Australian TV show. Their engagement and wedding rings were personally designed by Jackman in which a Sanskrit inscription was engrave in their wedding rings, Om paramar mainamar, which means we dedicate our union to a greater source. Their marriage was not blessed by biological children, since, Deborra Furness had IVF failures and miscarriages, which she and Jackman adopted two children, a bi-racial son, Oscar Maximillian and Ava Eliot.

13)  Michelle Pfeiffer

Michelle Marie Pfeiffer known simply as Michelle Pfeiffer, is an American actress and singer, in 1980 she made her film debut in The Hollywood Knights, with her breakout performance in the 1983 film, Scarface. Pfeiffer was first married to actor and director Peter Horton married in 1981, in Santa Monica, and during their honeymoon, Pfeiffer learned she had won the lead role in Grease 2. In 1988, Pfeiffer and Horton decided to separate in 1988, and divorced two years later, citing that their separation because of their priority and devotion is their career  rather than their marriage. Pfeiffer had a three-year relationship with actor/producer Fisher Stevens, after her marriage to Horton. Pfeiffer met Stevens, when she starred in the Twelfth Night, a New York Shakespeare Festival production, in which Stevens played the role of Sir Andrew Aguecheek. Pfeiffer was set up on a blind date in January 1993, with television writer and producer David E. Kelley.   On November 13, 1993, Pfeiffer and Kelley were married. Pfeiffer adopted a newborn daughter, she named Claudia Rose, and was christened on Pfeiffer and Kelley’s wedding day. Pfeiffer gave birth to a son, John Henry in August 1994.

14)  Steven Spielberg

American film director, screenwriter, producer and business magnate Steven Spielberg, born Steven Allan Spielberg, one of the co-founders of DreamWorks movie studio, a film producer of more than four decades, the Spielberg’s films. Spielberg was first married to actress Amy Irving from 1985 until 1989, which their divorce settlement, she received $100 million from Spielberg after a judge vacated a prenuptial agreement written on a napkin. Their divorce became controversial, and was reported as the third most costly celebrity divorce in the film industry history. Spielberg and Irving shared custody of their son, Max Samuel. Spielberg met actress Kate Capshaw when he cast her in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. On October 12, 1991, Spielberg and Capshaw married. There are seven children in the Spielberg-Capshaw family. American actress Jessica Capshaw, born August 9, 1976, she is the daughter Kate Capshaw from her previous marriage to Robert Capshaw, Max Samuel Spielberg, born June 13, 1985, he is the son Steven Spielberg from previous marriage to actress Amy Irving, Theo Spielberg born 1988, adopted son of Kate Capshaw before her marriage to Spielberg, who later also adopted him, American actress. Sasha Rebecca Spielberg born May 14, 1990 in Los Angeles, Sawyer Avery Spielberg born March 10, 1992, in Los Angeles, Mikaela George born February 28, 1996, adopted daughter with Steven Spielberg, and Destry Allyn Spielberg born December 1, 1996.

15) Mariska Hargitay

American actress Mariska Hargitay, best known for her role as New York City sex crimes Detective Olivia Benson on the NBC television drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Hargitay is the daughter of actress Jayne Mansfield (April 19, 1933 – June 29, 1967, died at age 34 from a car accident) and actor/bodybuilder Mickey Hargitay (January 6, 1926 – September 14, 2006). Mariska Hargitay is a former beauty queen who made her film debut in Ghoulies, a horror-comedy film in 1985. Mariska Hargitay met actor Peter Hermann on the set of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit playing the role as Defense Attorney Trevor Langan and married on August 28, 2004, in Santa Barbara, California. Hargitay gave birth to their son, August Miklos Friedrich Hermann, on June 28, 2006, by an emergency caesarean section. Hargitay and her husband adopted Amaya Josephine and attended her birth in April 2011. And on the same year, October 2011, the couple adopted a baby boy, Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Hermann.

16)  Jane Fonda

American actress, writer, political activist, former fashion model and fitness guru, Jane Fonda, born Lady Jayne Seymour Fonda, the daughter of actor Henry Fonda and the Canadian-born socialite Frances Ford Brokaw Seymour, is also one of famous actress with a black daughter. In August 14, 1965, Jane Fonda married her first husband actor, director and producer Roger Vadim. In September 28, 1968, Fonda gave birth to their daughter, Vanessa Vadim, who later became producer and cinematographer. In January 16, 1973, Fonda nad Vadim divorced, and following her divorce from Vadim, Fonda married activist Tom Hayden. In July 7, 1973, Fonda gave birth to a son, actor Troy Garity born Troy O’Donovan Hayden, but he later adopted his paternal grandmother’s maiden name, professionally as Garity, because using the surnames Fonda and Hayden ‘carried too much baggage’, while his name Troy, was the Anglicization of Troi. Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden named their son for Nguyễn Văn Trỗi a Viet Cong a National Liberation Front bomber. Jane Fonda and Hayden adopted an African-American teenager unofficially, named Mary Luana Williams known as Lulu, who was the daughter of Black Panthers member (a black revolutionary socialist organization active in the United States from 1966 until 1982). In 1990, Fonda and Hayden divorced. Jane Fonda married her third husband, Ted Turner, cable-television tycoon and CNN founder in 1991, and divorced in 2001. In 2010, Fonda was diagnosed with beast cancer, and in November 2010, she underwent a lumpectomy, and has recovered. Since 2009, Jane Fonda has been dating record producer Richard Perry. 

17)  Kristin Davis

American actress  Kristin Landen Davis also known as Kristin Lee Davis, achieved fame and first rose to prominence for television’s primetime soap opera that aired on Fox drama series, Melrose Place, playing the role of Brooke Armstrong and went on to achieve greater success in Sex and the City on HBO, playing the role as Charlotte York Goldenblatt. Kristin Davis adopted a daughter, Gemma Rose in 2011. Davis and daughter reside in Los Angeles, California. Kristin Davis is a recovering from being an alcoholic.

18)  Charlize Theron

South African and American actress and fashion model Charlize Theron, first rose to fame in the late 1990s following roles in 1997 the film The Devil’s Advocate. In 2007, Charlize Theron became a U.S. citizen, but retained her South African citizenship. Theron had a two-year relationship with actor Craig Bierko in the mid-1990. Theron also dated Stephan Jenkins, the frontman of Third Eye Blind, from 1997 until 2001. Theron then began a relationship with Irish actor and director Stuart Townsend, after meeting him on the set of 2002′s film Trapped and in 2004′s Head in the Clouds. In January 2010, Charlize Theron split from Townsend after she came back from a holiday in Mexico, after nearly nine years together. Theron is dating actor Sean Penn since February 2014. In March 2012, it was announced that Theron has an adopted son named, Jackson.

19)  Jillian Michaels

Jillian Michaels is an American personal trainer, reality television show personality, talk show host and entrepreneur from Los Angeles. Jillian Michaels is known for her roles on NBC’s The Biggest Loser, Losing It With Jillian and for her appearance on the talk show The Doctors. Jillian Michaels is openly bisexual and living in together with her partner, Heidi Rhoades with their two children. In May 2012, Jillian Michaels adopted their then-two-year-old daughter, Lukensia (born 2010) from Haiti, and her partner Rhoades gave birth to their son, Phoenix, born on May 3, 2012, that same month when her daughter was adopted. Michaels was diagnosed when she was a child,  attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

20)  “Ty” Burrell

Tyler Gerald “Ty” Burrell, is an American actor who is known for his role in the ABC comedy, Modern Family as Phil Dunphy.  In 2000, Burrell married his wife Holly. The couple resided in New York City and moved to Salt Lake City. Burrell and his wife, announced on March 18, 2010, that they had adopted a baby girl, Frances. Burrell and his wife adopted a second daughter in March 2012.

DeMarcus Omar Ware

DeMarcus Omar , age 31, is an American football player of the National Football League as defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys. Ware was drafted with the 2005 NFL Draft out at 11th overall pick of Troy University. DeMarcus Ware married Taniqua Smith, his high school sweetheart, in March 2005, daughter of a police officer and she was a former Air Force member. Taniqua Smith had three difficult pregnancies, and that includes the birth and death of a son, Omar, in 2006. The couple adopted their daughter, Marley, a white baby. Ware and his wife, planned to become a foster family, and continued to try for a biological children, which the couple achieved in November 20, 2010, with the birth of their son, DeMarcus, Jr. And another son was born they named Bryce.
